Hey all
I am trying to get involved at fire dancing at last thursdays. I have my own equipment and safety supplies. Anybody know who I should be talking to? OR is it just ok to set my stuff up and spin my little heart out?

Well, my friends got abruptly and rather intrusively stopped from spinning last night by some police officers. In fact, she incroached on him while his wicks were still burning, butted up to his chest and said "I told you to turn them off, now!" He couldn't get to his towel because she was in his way....it sounded kind of like a power trip on her part. So, I wouldn't suggest just setting up and spinning, who knows if they will start fining people for it.

However, some friends set up their Rose City Vaudeville show, get 19th blocked off and get a permit to set up shop on the corner. They have been doing it for months now and haven't had problems. (They weren't there last night because of the Burning Man Confliction) I would suggest getting in touch with Maquette and Happy about joining the festivities there if you want to spin and meet some killer people! They are on tribe and should be rather easy to find.

    Hey,

There was some miss-communication between the cops during the August Last Thursday which is why some of the fire dancers were asked to stop the dancing. I have cleared this with the police department and fire dancing is allowed during the September Last Thursday and in the future.

There will be a performance stage set up on 24th and Rose City Vaudeville will do their show on 19th. If you want to perform fire dancing you can go to either venue and ask to be part of the show or you can do it on the street as long as you are safe.

There might very well be miss-communication between the cops again. If you are performing and are asked to stop, please let the cop know that it has been OK’d by Lt. Walker and that he/she should check with the Lt. in charge. If that isn’t enough, feel free to call me on my cell phone at 971-221-7747 and I’ll make sure you can keep dancing.

    Peace,

    Magnus
